Coolest Projects competition 2018 with Anaeko

CoderDojo Belfast supported by Anaeko are proud to launch a competition in preparation for CoderDojo Coolest Projects 2018!

The competition theme is Inclusiveness & Collaboration

Your submission for this competition should also be entered for the CoderDojo Coolest Projects competition later in the year (in fact we would be strongly encouraging and helping you to enter!). Please register your project early on as places are limited and fill early!
We will be providing transport for up to 50 attendees to attend the event and showcase their projects at the CoderDojo Coolest Projects!
Further information on the CoderDojo Coolest Projects event being held in Dublin on Saturday 26th May 2018 can be found here:

Your entry will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Coolness – how cool/unique is the idea – 20 marks
  • Ðesign & Usability – what does it look like and how user-friendly is it – 10 marks
  • Commercial/general use appeal – would people either buy it or organisations (schools/charities) use it if it was free? – 10 marks
  • Complexity – what technology is used – 10 marks

Anaeko are kindly donating the following prizes:

  • 1st Place – £150 Amazon Voucher
  • 2nd Place – £100 Amazon Voucher
  • 3rd Place – £50 Amazon Voucher
  • Judges Special Prize for best IoT project – £50 Amazon Voucher
  • All entrants will receive a special CoderDojo Belfast / Anaeko Coolest Projects wristband USB drive!

Geoff has put some suggestions for entries here

  1. This completion is open to attendees of CoderDojo Belfast (17 & under).
  2. Help can be obtained from the mentors at regular CoderDojo sessions.
  3. Kids can work in teams or in pairs, but first should consider how they would split the prizes should they win.
  4. All entries must be submitted at or before the final Dojo before Coolest Projects on 12th May 2018 – Judging will take place between then and the Award Ceremony in June.
  5. Your entry does not necessarily need to be fully complete but should at least be partially complete and demonstrate the general concept of your idea (e.g. a few levels of a game, some of the mobile apps functionality working, some/most of the website up and running)
  6. Kids name shouldn’t be displayed anywhere on the submission, judging will be anonymous
  7. The top 3 prize winners will be announced at our Belt Awards Ceremony in early June 2018.
  8. All results of the judging panel are final.
  9. Final submissions may be used by Anaeko & CoderDojo for promotional purposes.
  10. All winners will be required to have their photo taken for publicity purposes.
  11. For all attendees attending Coolest Projects in Dublin we will require a parent or guardian to also attend (no matter what age you are).
  12. Prizes may be substituted with those of an equal value in the event of being unavailable
